1. In heavy 2 - 4 quart or larger sauce pan combine milk, heavy cream, flour, sugar 2. Cook on stove top over medium heat
3. Whisk the mixture consistently until the mixture thickens to custard or pudding consistency.
4. Add cocoa powder and semi-sweet chocolate.
5. Allow mixture to combine while continuing to whisk.
6. Place the Egg yolks in a heat proof mixing bowl whisk the eggs and vanilla together.
7. Coddle the egg yolks (mix small amounts of the chocolate custard into the Egg yolks bringing them up to the temperature of the heated custard slowly to prevent curdling).
8. Return the egg yolk mixture to the sauce pan and continued to whisk.
9. Break the stick of butter into pieces
10. Drop the pieces of butter into the custard mixture while continuing to whisk until completely combined.
11. Pour into a prepared pie crust (pastry or gram crackers crust)
12. Allow to cool in the refrigerator until set.
13. Serve with whip cream or meringue topping.
Variations:
1. Replace semi-sweet chocolate chip with dark bakers chocolate for a richer flavor.
